Designing Your Dream Closet With Molto
Do you love your closet? Do you have enough space within it? Here’s my thoughts on all things closets, old and new.
Let’s start with the standard bedroom closet from 1970 that I grew up with. One door and one hanging rod. There ya have it! If you were lucky, you had two doors, two rods and maybe a shelf or shelving unit.
The above is basically what you saw in the average, and some above average homes back then. UNLESS, if you were building a new home. THEN, you could create your space and expand your closet horizons.
Here’s my MUST HAVE(s) when creating my dream closet.
I want shelves and hanging rods. I want to see my clothes, shoes, bags etc.
I was recently informed that in some countries it’s considered unsanitary to have shoes in the closet. This actually makes a lot of sense to me. However, when trying on an outfit I sometimes compare the shoes with it, so that could be problematic. Otherwise, I agree with this cleanliness tactic.
This open concept looks clean and modern. I love the open shelving. I love the lighting. Good lighting is definitely important in a “dressing room” especially if you have a mirror.
However, there’s not enough hanging rods here. At least for me. I also love the drawers and bottom shelving. Nothing has to sit on the floor with this design which is nice. The tufted ottoman is nice touch.
This design, which is housing both His and Hers, is probably in a condo or an apartment. There’s no way this would be considered an ample amount of space.
It’s a clean and contemporary look with what appears to be bifold doors or sliding doors. I also like the mirror on the outside of the design utilizing the space (or limited space) they have.
This definitely has a good amount of space and storage. If I had this closet, would it look like this? Probably not, but if you know me, it would be close. I like to be organized. I like that you can see your clothes and bags. I like the extra lighting as well. I am not sure if I like the dark colors of the cabinets, otherwise this is a nice “dressing room”.
YES! YES! YES!
These two examples have everything I would like and need. Ample space for His and Hers. Beautiful lighting. The expensive purses and shoes are protected from being crushed in a corner. Love that it goes from ceiling to floor and did I mention the jewelry island and storage in the center? That’s a big plus.
Whatever you need in your closet is exactly that, it’s your need. Don’t get shelving or drawers unless you need them. Don’t do floor to ceiling unless you need to. As long as you utilize the space to your advantage you will love the final design.
